What is Physics?

Physics is an experimental science. Physicists observe energy and motion in the natural world and try to find patterns that relate those observations. From these patterns, physicists develop hypotheses and test them. Once a hypothesis has undergone extensive and rigorous testing, it becomes an established theory. The physicist has to learn to ask appropriate questions, design experiments to try to answer the questions, and draw appropriate conclusions from the results.

Physics is the study of matter and energy, and how they interact.

The study of physics encompasses topics ranging from the motions of smallest particles of matter to the structure of the universe The physicist applies the rigor of mathematical treatment to reveal the fundamental truth of how the universe works and how it can be made to work for us.
